SAC Youth ProgramsThe Soaring Association of Canada offers a number of incentives to younger Canadians in order to encourage greater participation in soaring. SAC Youth Bursary ProgramBased on years of proven success, retention of youth and the addition of new members hooked for life into our sport from examples in Ontario, SAC is pleased to announce that a nationally coordinated youth support effort has come to fruition with its monetary backing to the tune of $10,000 per year. This commitment will continue for the next three years. It is a great leap forward for our sport, excellent for promotion to the thousands of glider pilots under 30 across the country, encouraging to the keenest new members of our sport and a concrete way to enhance soaring here in Canada. Peter Corley Memorial ScholarshipThe scholarship is primarily aimed at assisting younger SAC members in the early stages of their post-secondary school education. The scholarship, which is awarded annually, has a value of $2,300. To be eligible candidates must be a member of SAC, have made at least one solo glider flight in the 12 month period preceding the application, and be attending a university or community college full-time or be accepted and scheduled to attend within six months of the date of the application. Badges and crests for FAI soaring awards, and the FAI gliding certificate are available at nominal cost. Air Cadet SAC FeesMembership in SAC is free of charge to young Canadians who are regular members of Air Cadet squadrons. |
