Following a suggestion on the roundtable, SAC would like to promote a National Day of Soaring in support of the World Contest Team. The idea is to provide clubs with a press release concerning the promotion, and asking clubs to forward the press release to local TV, radio and newspapers to generate public interest in the event, then donate all or part of the funds generated during fam flights on that day. Clubs will also have information available for people to donate directly to the World Contest Fund and receive a tax receipt.

We are working on a press release for the clubs. We will also advertise this day in COPA and other Canadian Aviation magazines and on the new website.

The Alberta clubs have committed to a day on the May long weekend allowing flexibility for weather and other club conflicts.  Would the other clubs across Canada also set aside a day on this weekend?

I will make more details available as we get the info together. At this point, if clubs could look at committing to supporting the event for one day of the May long weekend, that will be a great start.
